Referral Routes
Patients come to Dr Krasner’s practice via a variety of referral routes. Most usually, they are referred by another health care or educational professional but some families refer themselves independently. Professional Referral
Please note that most health insurance companies require a GP referral (and some require a child psychiatric referral) in order to authorise a claim for clinical psychology assessment and treatment. Please check with your health insurers. See also Fees & Funding. Independent Referral Dr Krasner is happy to accept referrals of children and teenagers made independently by their parents. Parents are also very welcome to self refer for parenting help, and young adults (that is those over 18 years of age) are also able to refer themselves independently for assessment and treatment. Self and independently referring patients should be aware however that they may not be able to utilise their health insurance without a professional referral as specified by their health insurance company, (see Fees & Funding). For your overall welfare, whether you are consulting Dr Krasner via professional or independent referral, it is normal practice for Dr Krasner to inform your G.P and /or referring specialist that you are consulting her service and to send him/her a brief summary of the assessment and treatment of you/your child. If you do not wish Dr Krasner to do this, please discuss this at your first appointment.
